The new field numbers
are given a survey number according to a set of procedure. For example, a survey
number is represented by the rectangle number and killa number. A rectangle covers
25 killas of one acre each. The rectangle number is indicated in red ink and the
killa number is indicated in blank ink. Thus field number is written as 2//4 means
kill number 4 lies in rectangle number 2. If due to some transfer, the killa number
4 is splits in two fields, the new fields number will be 2//4/1 and 2//4/2. If field
no 2//4/1 is further undergoes a change and splits in two new fields, it will be
numbered as 2//4/1/1 and 2//4/1/2. The patwari incorporates these changes simultaneously
in his copy of map. The tatima plotted on the mapping sheets are bound with new
Jamabandi and consigned. At the time of consignment of Jamabandi, the patwari brings
his own copy of map, amends the original copy of the map lying in the Tehsil. However,
temporary changes relating to mortgage, redemption and cultivation arrangements
are not transplanted to the original copy. Thus at a particular point of time, the
original copy lying in tehsil record will reflect the position as on the date of
the consignment of the last Jamabandi while patwari’s copy will normally reflect
the present position.
